Q The
charges this
year seems to have increased significantly, I want to launch on an
annual basis, why
do I have to pay so much more than last year? This doesn't seem fair?A The Langstone Harbour Board have been very supportive of the new club and have agreed to waive the cost of the permit fee for club members. Therefore becoming a member will help reduce the costs involved. In fact a club member will now share the same charging structure as every other slipway user, this has been unheard of for a number of years. Q Has the price of the Permits been increased to pay for the new Club? A No. The Club has been consulted very closely by the Langstone Harbour Board regarding a fairer deal for responsible PWC users. In real terms the revenue to the Langstone Harbour Board will be reduced as members will not be paying the Jetski permit fee. Previously PWC owners would have paid the extra premium as there was no way to receive any discount. This shows the level of support that the Langstone Harbour Board has given to make the club a success. Q Do I pay my permit fees directly to the Club? A No. Please talk directly to the Langstone Harbour Master at the Langstone Harbour office regarding all payment of Jetski permits and Launch Fees. Please click here to be re-directed to the Langstone Harbour webite. Q Can I pay for my club membership at the Harbour Masters Office when I apply for my permit and Launch fees? A Unfortunately Not. The Club and The Langstone Harbour Master are two totally different organisations and all Club payments must be taken directly by the club. Please click here to contact the Club. We would also recommend that you apply for club membership as early as possible. The Langstone Harbour Master will not issue discounted permits without a valid HIPWC ID card. Q I don't have insurance and my PWC is not Datatag registered but I want to join the club, what do I do? A It is a requirement from the Langstone Harbour Board, that all PWC are insured and Datataged. Please contact us as soon as possible. We are unable to recommend insurance companies but we can give you details of those that we know, you may even obtain a discount. If you contact us we can put you in touch with Datatag direct or you can click on the datatag logo on our website to obtain further details. Q I don't want to join the club, why do I have to pay more? A We hope you will re-consider. Why not drop us a line with your telephone number and we can discuss your concerns. The Langstone Harbour Board have decided that only Club members will be allowed to obtain a discount on their permit charges. This is to encourage people to join the club and act responsibly and safely. Q My Jetski is plastered with stickers! Can something be done about this? A It is a concern at the moment, however please ensure your stickers (plaques) are displayed as advised by the issuing authority. Failure to do so could result in prosecution and we don't want that! Q Why don't boats have to pay for an additional permit? Why can't we have the same charges as them? A From the 1st March 2008, the Langstone Harbour Board has actually unified the cost of launching for all users of the slipways. There is an extra cost for PWC resulting from the Local Byelaw regarding the management of PWC and this is why there is an additional cost. Why don't you think about joining the club and obtain a discounted permit? Q Why do I have to have PWC Insurance? A There are lots of good reasons to have insurance, not only to protect your investment but to ensure 3rd parties are protected as well. In any case it is a requirement of the Langstone Harbour Board, that all PWC have insurance. Additionally, for Club purposes, insurance certificates must be produced for inspection before attending any Club Events. Q Why do I have to have my PWC datatag registered? No one ever checks it? A They will now! We have already organised Datatag to come to the slipway to check Datatag registrations. However, please think of the benefits. For example, a properly Datataged PWC will be easier for the emergency services to locate if stolen, could potentially help your insurance claim and even be helpful in alerting the emergency services of who to look for if you are seperated from it at sea. Datatag is like a car registration, it details who owns the PWC and it is important that we ensure the PWC that are part of the club are registered to the correct people. Q Why can't I purchase my Permit, launch fees and Membership all at once from one source? It seems silly that I have to apply to different people. Its very confusing! A We agree but because the Club and the Langstone Harbour Master are two very different organisations we are unable to offer a unified service. It really is to everyones benefit to keep these operations seperate. if you are confused, please do not hesitate to contact the Club or the Langstone Harbour Master , we really want to help. Q I have purchased my permit already and I did not have my membership card at the time. Can I apply for a refund? A Unfortunately Not. The Langstone Harbour Master has made the process very clear. NO ID card = NO DISCOUNT and they will not entertain any refunds. Our recommendation is to apply for your membership early to ensure you obtain your membership card in good time. We recommend that you allow 3 weeks to receive your membership card, assuming all your details are correct. QUICK LINKS |
