Langstone Slipways

There are 3 main slipways that could be used by Jetskiers for launching into Langstone Harbour. By far the most suitable is the Ferry Point Slipway which is located at the South Western Tip of Hayling Island. Although there are more than 3 slipways, only 3 are really suitable for PWC launching although they all have there relative advantages and disadvantages.

The Ferry point slipway, is covered in its own section as it has the most facilities. Here we cover the other slipways for information.

Broadmarsh Slipway

broadmarsh slipway

Broadmarsh Slipway is loacted at the northern tip of Langstone Harbour. It is a very large slipway (about 6-8 car widths) but it is only usable for approx 1 hour either side of high tide. Being located at the northern tip of the harbour it also makes it very unsuitable for powered craft who want the flexability of access. The Slipway is also located near the local widlife reserve. Part of the harbour is a site of special scientific interest becuase of the many rare birds that nest in the harbour. The Club does not recommend this slipway be used for PWC launching due to tidal access and the close proximity of the S.S.S.I.

This shot shows the industrial works which are located to the east of the slipway. A large vessel frequents this aggregates yard to load/unload during high tide and is severely constrained by its draught. This is another reason why this slipway in unsuitable for PWC Launching.

This picture shows the area around the slipway. There is plenty of parking and the slipway construction is very good. It even has stairs allowing for easy access to your vessel.

These shots show the signage in the area. The sign on the left faces the land side whereas the photo on the right displays the signage facing seaward.

After reading the sign you may want to re-consider launching from this site!
