The Langstone Jetski Permit

To comply with Local bylaws which have been set by the Langstone Harbour Board, all PWC users, launching from the Langstone Slipways will have to pay certain fees directly to the Langstone Harbour Master who is located next to the slipway in the Harbour Masters Office

For PWC these fees come in two elements detailed below. Please click here  to view our frequently asked questions page.

The first is a compulsory Jetski Permit. This permit must be applied for in person at the Harbour Masters Office.Every Jetski will require this permit. The permit allows a specified Jetski permission to navigate from Langstone Harbour and proceed directly to sea observing the Harbour speed limit and local bylaws. It does not allow users to operate at speed anywhere in Langstone Harbour.
The Permit, takes the form of a self adhesive label (also referred to as a Plaque) which must be displayed on the craft it was assigned to. Evidence that you have this permit is the display of the plaque. if you do not display this plaque you risk prosecution from the Langstone Harbour Master.

This permit costs £50 to non-members of the HIPWC, or if you are an accepted member of the HIPWC the fee will be waived completely by the Langstone Harbour Master. To obtain a discounted Jetski permit you MUST be a member of the club. To find out more about becoming a member, please click here

The Second element is dependant on whether you intend to launch on a Daily basis or an Annual basis
This fee is to pay for Launch fees and Harbour dues and must be paid by all slipway users launching from any of the Langstone Slipways

A summary of this charging system, is shown below, and is effective from the 1st March 2008.

Launch fees including Harbour Dues and Vat for all Slipway Users
Daily Charge £11.00
Annual Charge £72.45

Therefore, any person looking to launch their Jetski from the Langstone Slipway will financially benefit from joining the Club by saving on the full cost of the Jetski Permit. This is the first of many benefits available to club members.

All Jetski permits are valid from 1st March to the end of February the following year in line with Club membership.

Although the Langstone Jetski Permit, will in effect be free to club members, Club members must still apply for a Permit directly from the Langstone Harbour Master. The Langstone Harbour Master will need to see your Club membership card to receive your discount. NO ID CARD = NO DISCOUNT.

Please allow ample time for the Club to process your application BEFORE you apply for your dicounted Jetski Permit.

In summary you will be required (by the Langstone Harbour Master) to display two plaques. One for your Jetski permit and one for your Harbour Dues/launch fees. Please ensure you have all the necessary plaques in place before you launch (Including your Club Sticker!). If the appropriate plaques can not be seen by the Langstone patrol staff you may be liable for prosecution for non-payment. You have been warned! If in any doubt please ask the Langstone Harbour Master, HIPWC Club or Langstone Harbour Patrol staff.
